Listen to “Spotlight on the Community” this weekend to find out all your 2008 voting needs during this historic Presidential election!
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 4th, we urge you to “Declare Yourself” because “only you can silence yourself.”
Or at least, that’s what our first guest, Norman Lear’s, ongoing slogan for his campaign, www.declareyourself.org, has to say. Norman, an award winning author, T.V. Producer, philanthropist and actual owner of an original copy of “The Declaration of Independence,” recently toured the U.S. to display “The Declaration of Independence” with the main goal of engaging young adults in the political process. Since then, success has followed as tens of thousands of young Americans are registering to vote everyday!
Also, joining us on the show is the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder County Clerk, Dean Logan. Dean shares very informative details how you can prepare yourself for Election Day including information about: deadlines, polling places and eligibility.
And finally, from the League of Women Voters (LWV), Liza White (President of the LWV Los Angeles) and Francis Talbott-White (Voter Service Director of the LWV Los Angeles) join our studio.
The LWV, formed in 1920, attempts to engage Americans in government and influence the public through education and advocacy. Listen to find out the LWV suggestions for state and local ballot measures. As well, don’t forget to login to www.smartvoter.org to view both pro and con sides of the propositions as well as interviews with Judicial candidates on your 2008 ballot.
