Last week, drummer Zak Starkey announced he was let go from The Who after being a member for 29 years. According the son of legendary Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, the band accused Starkey of overplaying during their recent shows at the Royal Albert Hall. While performing “The Song is Over” at the Royal Albert Hall on March 30th, vocalist Roger Daltrey stopped the song to complain that he couldn’t hear the other instruments because of Starkey’s drumming.
However, there has been a quick turnaround and Starkey is back in the band.
“News Flash! Who Backs Zak!” guitarist Pete Townshend wrote on social media. “He’s not being asked to step down from the Who. There have been some communication issues, personal and private on all sides, that needed to be dealt with, and these have been aired happily.”
Well, that was quick.
