Jim Morrison’s Bust Accidentally Discovered by French Police After Missing for 37 Years

French police accidentally discovered Jim Morrison’s grave bust, which has been missing for 37 years.

Croatian artist Mladen Mikulin created the memorial in 1981 for the 10th anniversary of The Doors’ frontman’s death at Morrison’s gravesite in Paris Père Lachaise Cemetery. However, the bust faced great disrespect as it was covered in graffiti and was eventually stolen seven years later after it was made.

While investigating a completely unrelated crime, Paris police stumbled upon the long-lost bust.

“After 37 years of absence, the bust of Jim Morrison, stolen in 1988 from the Père Lachaise cemetery, has been found,” they wrote in a statement on Instagram. “During an investigation conducted by the Financial and Anti-Corruption Brigade of the Directorate of Judicial Police of the Prefecture of Police, under the authority of the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office, this iconic symbol for the singer’s fans was recovered.”

No plans have been revealed of what will happen with the bust or whether it will return to Jim Morrison’s grave.
