Bruce Springsteen paid tribute to Clive Davis during the music executive’s funeral Monday at Central Synagogue in New York City.
During the service, Springsteen remembered Davis as a powerful presence in music and in his own career. He described the late executive with a play on his own classic song, saying Davis was “born to run everything.”
Davis died June 22 at age 94 after an age-related illness. Over decades in the record business, he helped shape the careers of major artists across pop, rock, R&B, and soul. His work included leadership roles at major labels and the founding of Arista Records and J Records.
