60 Years Ago Today: Legendary Supergroup Cream Forms [VIDEO]

Exactly 60 years ago one of the greatest supergroups in rock and roll history formed.  July 16th, 1966 guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Jack Bruce, and drummer Ginger Baker formed the psychedelic blues-rock band Cream.

Clapton had already found success with his previous bands The Yardbirds and John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers while Baker and Bruce had made names for themselves in the Graham Bond Organisation.

When the power trio came together, it was immediately apparent that the Cream would make history with their original sound.  During the short two years the original band was together, they released hit after hit including Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, Strange Brew, and their rockin’ cover of Albert King’s Born Under A Bad Sign.
