Boston proved they were not just another band out of Boston when they introduced themselves with their debut self-titled album on August 25th, 1976.
Most of the multi-platinum record was actually recorded in guitarists’ Tom Scholz basement, although Epic Records demanded the album be recorded professionally at a Los Angeles studio. However, the songs sounded so professional that Boston was able to trick the label executives into believing the home recordings were in fact recorded in LA.
With massive hits including More Than A Feeling, Rock & Roll Band, Foreplay/Long Time, Smokin, and Peace Of Mind, Boston became one of the greatest selling debut records of all time in the US. With the distinct organ, hard-hitting guitar riffs, and effects, Boston officially created the “Boston sound.”
