During the late ’60s, The Rolling Stones kept climbing higher and higher in their fame and popularity. In 1966, they recorded a song with a beautiful melody called Ruby Tuesday, which they released in January 1967. On March 4th, 1967, the tune officially became the #1 song on the Billboard charts making it the fourth (of many to say the least) of their #1 hits in the U.S.
Bassist Bill Wyman stated the lyrics were entirely written by guitarist Keith Richards who received help from Brian Jones on the melody. Although Mick Jagger did not contribute much to the writing, he says he truly enjoys singing the tune.
