Joe Satriani joins Matt Pinfield On New & Approved To Discuss New Album And His Musical Journey

Joe Satriani has lived a passionate career in music for the past several decades and is nowhere near finishing. The famous guitarist will be releasing his newest album “The Elephants of Mars” and you’ll hear all about it in this conversation with Matt Pinfield on “New & Approved.”

Satriani talks about his time in the late ’70s playing in the San Francisco based band Squares and how he soon connected with the Greg Kihn Band. Eventually, he took the reigns and embarked upon his solo career which really took off when he released the studio album “Surfing with the Alien” in October 1987.

Satriani digs into his childhood as he tells Matt about some of his greatest influences and how he was always so drawn to instrumental music. He proved himself early in his life as he even began teaching music at just 15-years-old. Satriani discusses working with many other musicians including Steve Vai and Metallica’s Kirk Hammett along with playing for Deep Purple and Sammy Hagar’s Chickenfoot.

One of the most Grammy-nominated artists of all time, Satriani expresses his appreciation of the entire journey he has experienced.
