Exactly 5 years ago from today, the world experienced a devastating loss. It was May 18th, 2017 when Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell took his own life at 52-years-old. He was found unconscious at the MGM Grand in Detroit, Michigan, following his performance with Soundgarden at the Fox Theatre the night before. This would be the iconic grunge band’s final concert.
Chris Cornell was an extremely important figure in grunge rock and helped to really popularize the genre. Along with Soundgarden, he also fronted the band Audioslave and founded Temple of The Dog. He also led a very successful solo career. Cornell gave us some of the best music in history. We have missed him every day the past 5 years.
