Joe Perry was recently asked how playing live with Aerosmith and Hollywood Vampires compares.

The band consisting of legends Alice Cooper, Perry, and Johnny Depp are preparing to release their sophomore album Rise on June 21. While Perry was in the middle of touring with Aerosmith for their 50th anniversary tour in Las Vegas, Loudwire asked him how it compares to play with each band.

“To play with a band like the Vampires, the only thing I can compare it to is when you put a band together when you’re kids,” Perry responded. “It’s a garage band, and you get out there and you’re just learning how to play, but you’re friends with everybody. One guy lives down the street and you’re friends, you’re not necessarily picking people to be in the band because they’re great players.”

“Aerosmith — it’s so unique to be in a band for 50 years, and know those guys and growing up with them,” he continued.” It’s almost impossible to compare it. It goes so deep, we’re like a family.”
