Metallica’s ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ Goes Up 1500% in Views After Viral Cougar Story

Metallica’s “Don’t Tread On Me” saw a major spike on YouTube after a recent viral story.

According to Youtube’s Music Charts and Trends, the daily views of the video went as high as 160,000, showing a 1500% spike compared to the song’s previous average daily views in 2019. Don’t Tread on Me” was released on Metallica’s 1991’s self-titled “black” album, but was not released as a single.

News had recently broken of a woman in Vancouver fighting off a cougar in her path by playing Metallica’s song on her phone. When the story went viral, Metallica’s James Hetfield even called the woman to speak about the incident.
