Kirk Hammett Says Other Metallica Members Reject His Ideas ‘All the Time’

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett admitted how his album ideas sometimes get rejected by other members of the band.

Rolling Stone conducted an interview between Hammett and indie singer St. Vincent as part of their “Musicians on Musicians” series. The two discussed their creative processes as well as the difficult aspects of being a musician. Hammett chose to disclose his frustration over the fact that Metallica does not solely represent his musical identity.

He admitted, “I’m always trying to sneak in jazz voicings and chords, little techniques here and there in Metallica.” When St. Vincent asked if his ideas ever get shot down, Hammett replied, “All the time.”
