Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer said that although John Frusciante’s return to the Red Hot Chili Peppers meant his own exit, he was “happy that he’s back with them.”
The Red Hot Chili Peppers recently announced the return of Frusciante as their guitarist, which meant that Klinghoffer would be leaving the band after being with them for the past decade. In a new episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, Klinghoffer said he feels “no animosity” over the move.
“It’s absolutely John’s place to be in that band,” he said. “So that’s why I’m happy for him, I’m happy that he’s back with them.”
“John and Flea have a musical language,” he continued. “I’ll never be able to contend with the history him and John had.”
