Joan Jett and Sting have released new songs in contribution to the Music Moments album by the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Association’s campaign strives to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s by showing how music has an impact on people’s lives.

“These songs honor the personal, emotional connection between music and the most important moments in life that we never want to lose,” the association said.

Jett re-recorded her song, “Hard to Grow Up,” which was inspired after her own mother died. “Songs really open people up, the way sometimes just conversation can’t,” she explained. “To share a moment with someone, look in their eyes and have a smile, it means everything.”

Sting recorded a cover of Otis Redding’s classic “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” and explained his personal connection to Alzheimer’s, as his wife’s mother had passed away from Alzheimer’s.
