Exactly one year ago from today, we lost a Texas blues legend. It was July 28th, 2021 when ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill passed away in his Houston, Texas home at the age of 72.

Music felt a huge sting with the loss of the legendary bassist with the infamous long beard that contributed to the eccentric style of ZZ Top.

ZZ Top continues to perform with guitarist Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard, and the band’s longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis has stepped in on bass.  Gibbons reported Dusty wanted the band to go on without him and gave Elwood his blessing. “Dusty emphatically grabbed my arm and said, ‘Give Elwood the bottom end, and take it to the Top.’ He meant it, amigo. He really did.”

We are happy ZZ Top is still on the road, but music will never be the same without Dusty Hill. We miss you Dusty!
