Los Angeles Celebrates The Life of Taylor Hawkins

Earlier this month, an all-star tribute concert took place at London’s Wembley Stadium and the music continued last night right here in Los Angeles. The second Taylor Hawkins tribute took place at the KIA Forum and once again featured some of the biggest rock acts who all had stories of the late Foo Fighters drummer.

Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl made a chilling point that “this many people connected through one person”. He was correct in stating that his dear friend made an impact on an incredible amount of people.

Alanis Morissette, who Hawkins played drums for prior to joining the Foos, performed an emotional version of You Oughta Know, comedian Dave Chapelle covered Radiohead’s Creep, Pink joined Heart’s Nancy Wilson for a duet of Barracuda, Def Leppard performed Photograph with Miley Cyrus, Chad Smith joined in with Rush, and Wolfgang Van Halen played some of his father’s hits just to name a few sweet moments.

Another chilling moment occurred when the surviving members of Nirvana, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, joined fellow grunge musicians Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil of Soundgarden, who also lost their frontman Chris Cornell, to play The Day I Tried to Live and Black Hole Sun. Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless hopped on stage to sing Black Hole Sun with all the musicians who share a bond of traumatic loss.

It’s no secret that Taylor Hawkins will be so missed by everyone. Last night was the most beauitful way to celebrate his life and all he gave to everyone.
