Metallica Announces New Album + Upcoming Tour

Metallica is all the rage in music news right now.

First, the legendary band announced they will be releasing their 12th studio album 72 Seasons on April 14th, 2023. 72 Seasons will be Metallica’s first record since 2016’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct.

James Hetfield said of the album, “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”

As a teaser to 72 Seasons, Metallica went ahead and released the album’s first single. The new track titled “Lux Aeterna” features the traditional sound of Metallica taking listeners back to the band’s early days. You can check out the music video for Lux Aeterna here:

That’s not all going on for Metallica though! They also unveiled dates for an upcoming 2023/2024 world tour. They’ll be stopping by Los Angeles’s SoFi Stadium for two concerts consisting of 2 completely different setlists. Metallica will be performing at SoFi on August 25th with Pantera and Mammoth WVH and continue on August 27th with Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10AM and can be purchased at https://www.ticketmaster.com/sofi-stadium-tickets-inglewood/venue/82789.
