July 20th, 2017 was a tragic day in rock history. It was the day that Chester Bennington, beloved lead vocalist of Linkin Park, was found dead in his Palos Verdes home at the age of 41. His death was ruled as a “suicide by hanging.”

The news served as a shock to Linkin Park fans throughout the world. It was especially horrific as Bennington’s close friend Chris Cornell, frontman of Soundgarden, also committed suicide almost exactly 2 months prior to Bennington’s passing. Cornell’s death took a dark toll on Bennington, and he even wrote on Instagram that he could not imagine a world without his friend.

Eerily, July 20th was also Chris Cornell’s birthday.

Overall, 2017 was devastating after losing two legends so close to each other. Chester and Chris are still so missed and forever will be.
