Former Producer Thinks Hendrix Would have Pioneered Rap

Where would Jimi Hendrix be if he were still alive? According to his former producer, Hendrix would have pioneered rap.

Producer Eddie Kramer, who worked with Hendrix late in his career, thinks that Hendrix was only beginning to change the rules of rock.

“This whole idea of street music would have definitely influenced him,” Kramer’s quoted as saying in a recent BBC Radio 6 interview. “Jimi was aware of everything that was going on, he was a musical sponge. The next step? Who knows … He may have even gotten into rap.”

Kramer went on to say that he believes that Hendrix would have not only been a great record producer, but probably even have his own record company, film company, and musical production company.

Kramer’s interviews comes in time to promote the concert documentary “Electric Church,” a posthumous product of Hendrix’s performance at the 1970 Atlanta Pop Festival scheduled to be released Oct 30.
