Frontman Dave Mustaine announced via social media that he has throat cancer.

Megadeth was forced to cancel multiple shows due to his diagnosis. On Instagram, Mustaine wrote, “I’ve been diagnosed with throat cancer. It’s clearly something to be respected and faced head on — but I’ve faced obstacles before. I’m working closely with my doctors, and we’ve mapped out a treatment plan which they feel has a 90 percent success rate. Treatment has already begun.”

Megadeth’s tour schedule for 2019 had festival dates across the country, such as Milwaukee’s Summerfest and Psycho Las Vegas, and they were also scheduled to perform a few shows with Ozzy Osbourne. Megacruise is supposed to take place on Oct. 13-18.
