On Sunday night, The Foo Fighters were honored by MTV with the U.S. Global Icon Award at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. According to a press release, MTV chose The Foo Fighters as the award’s recipients because their “unparalleled career and continued impact and influence has maintained a unique level of global success in music and beyond,”

Foo Fighters were also nominated for three separate VMAs categories for their Shame Shame music video that included “Best Rock,” “Best Choreography,” and “Best Cinematography.”

The band also performed Learn to Fly, Everlong, and their recent single Shame Shame. To honor the late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, drummer Taylor Hawkins had “Charlie R.I.P.” written on his drumkit.
