Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason Joins Matt Pinfield To Discuss The Pink Floyd Exhibition & His Long Career

Nick Mason, original drummer and co-founder of Pink Floyd, joined Matt Pinfield on “New & Approved” for an in-person conversation. As a member of one of the most important bands in history that pioneered many innovations in experimentation, Mason is full of many stories and insight.

Mason first dives into his earliest memories in music from buying his first drumkit to forming his first band with friends who didn’t yet know how to play their instruments. He then tells Matt about the beginning days of Pink Floyd and how the recording process went about along with stories about former bandmate Syd Barrett. The band was not expecting to become such a legendary piece of musical history.

Mason shares stories behind iconic Pink Floyd albums including “Dark Side Of The Moon,” “Wish You Were Here,” and “Pigs” and the significance of their impact. Every moment of success was a surprise to the band, including when “Another Brick In The Wall” went to no.1 on Christmas Day.

“The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains” is now open in Los Angeles and takes fans on an audio-visual journey through the band’s history. Mason was very involved in the development of this exhibit and discusses what attendees can expect when they visit.
